Practical 6

The last search facilities is the invisible web ( datebases ) which is referred as deep web. It consists of highly authoritative information and is a collection of information stored in the form of data. They are reliable and more up-to-date information. Most of them require us to pay to access them.

Some examples of these invisible webs are:
-Acadamic gateway
-Complete planet

Temasek polytechnic has its own digital portal library as they purchased those aricles which allows the stuffs or students from TP to access to them and are they are not searcheable through internet search engines.

For examples are TP's E-books database ITPRO and also TP's Digital Library Portal Research Gateway.

However, i don't feel that these invisible webs can be more effective than search engines. True enough that thses webs can provide reliable and recent articles. But the effectiveness really have to depend on what are the topics i am looking for.

By learning more about these search facilities, i can apply them to help me get information easier and faster in future. This certainly benefit me in researching greatly, saving up the trouble of viewing pages of irrelevant information and avoid being lost in the sea of resources.
