Practical 4 and 5

I get to know many search facilities like search engines ( e.g.google ), meta search and also subject directory. These search facilities which i have never came across in the past really helps me improve my knowledge and understanding of searching information.

Meta search, the 'leader', enables me to collect information in the shortest time from all search engines. They combine results according to the relevance and source. Which means when i m searching in meta search, i am actually searching other great engines as well.

Subject directory have which is also known as subject catalogs. I can select and browse a particular category to decrease the chances of having irrelevant results. And the topics are organized from more general to the specific. It does helps when i understand and clear of what i am looking for.

What are the differences between them? Subject directories are human compiled and thus able to lessen the number of pages in the database. Whereas search engines are machine compiled using spiders/crawlers and often produces huge number of pages.

I personally prefer to use google and meta search because i don't like the limitations as i afraid i may miss out some information i wanted. i will rather to have more information on hands too choose from.

I have added in site feeds in my blog. Through what i know, site feeds took out blog skins and present just words. This make it more formal or rather readable as compared from reading in 'bling bling' blogs. It certainly will be a good way to present resource from blogs.
